Bringing the first kitten home and help him adjust to the new environment is not easy at all, and can take out a lot of energy from you, but it’s very important to train your kitten while he is still young than to suffer later.
I know there’s a stigma that cats can not be trained like dogs can, but it actually is possible and very important as well. The sooner you will start training your kitten, the better.
Here are some tips how to train your kitten:
- It is known that cats can make a lot of damage to the furniture with their claws, that’s why it’s very important to let your kitten know your furniture are out of limit.
You can buy a scratching post and every time you see her scratching a furniture, take her to the post to sharpen her claws there. Don’t forget to give her a treat every now and then to let her know she is doing something good.
- Toilet training is very important. You need to be patient because it takes time to teach a kitten where to do her body wastes but after not to long it will pay off.
Cats usually do their wastes after taking a nap or after eating, so make sure to show your kitten the way to the litter box after doing one of those to things. You can even place her inside the box, and after a few times she will find her way alone.
- Make sure your kitten will have plenty of toys to play with and don’t let her play with your body parts. Maybe it won’t feel to painful at the beginning, but a grown cat’s bite is not something you would want to feel.
GOOD LUCK
